Detailed Description of the Project
The overall objective of the support project of which this contract will be a part is to support the beneficial integration of the Botswana economy into the regional and the global economy by expanding the country’s export basket – in particular exports of organic fertilizers — and thereby contribute to sustainable economic development and
poverty reduction.
In the context of boosting Botswana Investment and Trade Center’s capacity to support Botswana’s export capacity of organic fertilizers, the purpose of the support project is two-fold:
- Purpose 1: Efficiently and effectively apply the market intelligence for organic fertilizer exports to the EU, guidelines and recommendations in keeping with the EU import requirements;
- Purpose 2: Capacity building targeting at increasing market access intra and extra regionally in support of private sector competitiveness for organic fertilizers.
Nature and Scope of services provided
The Project will utilize the services of a team of experts to provide a range of highly specialized technical services to Botswana Investment and Trade Center and the five exporters (potential) of organic fertilizers. These services involve:
- Consultations with the beneficiaries’ organizations,support and governing institutions during implementation of this project;
- Provision of capacity building services as stipulated in these Terms of Reference, for the sustainability of the project’s interventions and impact, provision of advice on plausible partnerships with European importers and trade support institutions with similar mission and competencies;
- Preparation of technical reports in the areas covered by these Terms of Reference; and
- Preparation of reports under section 7 of these Terms of Reference
